Book Report: Bookish Gift Guide 1

As a total book nerd, I'm always keeping an eye out for excellent bookish items. All of my shopping is done for this year, but here are some gifts I'd happily give my favorite book lovers...

Looking for something charming and relatively cheap? These classic children's books with covers by Dana Tanamachi are only $7.99. Pippi Longstocking and The Wizard of OZ are currently available on Anthropologie, and Peter Pan is on Amazon. You can learn more about the design process for these Puffin Chalk Classics (and see videos of Dana in action) on the Tanamachi Studio Blog.

Even though I hate the idea of scrawling my name inside any of my books, I do love a good bookplate, and these bookplate stamps are sweet and affordable. Clockwise from top left: Rubber Stamp Bookplate, $22.75 by Wit and WhistleCalligraphy Bookplate Stamp, $22.50 by KM CalligraphyEx Libris Stamp, $24 by Em Dash Paper Co.

Who knew such a thing existed? Finally, the scent of leather-bound books and aged paper will waft throughout the entire house, making all who inhale instantly smarter and more refined. Clockwise from top left: Books Candle, $49 by AssoulineBibliothéque Candle, $81.75 at Liberty London (image via LA Cool & Chic); Library Candle, $22 by YearBook Supply Co. Curious about the smell of old books? Here's a swell YouTube from AbeBooks.com--British accent included!

If you'd like to spend a bit more money (more than $80 for a candle!), these animal bookends are unique and useful. Clockwise from top left: Sereno Coyote Bookends, $62 each at Wolfum; Wool Felt Animal Bookends, $99/set at Restoration Hardware Baby & Child; and Paint Pony Bookends, $120/set by Equine by Lauren on Etsy.

Stay tuned for more bookish gift ideas...
